This policy explains what personal information GPower collects when you use this website to book a repair, how we use it, and the choices you have. GPower repairs phones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Who we are
GPower is a device repair business and a partner of Gala Esports. Our first repair counter is at Gala Box Hill, 15-17 Prospect St, Box Hill VIC 3128. In this policy, "we", "us" and "GPower" mean the business that runs this website and its repair counters.
You can contact us about your privacy at booking@gpower.com.au or on 0485 575 155.
What we collect
When you send a booking request, we collect:
- your name, phone number and email address
- the device you want repaired (type, brand and model), what is wrong with it, and any notes you add
- how you want it repaired (drop it in, we come to you, or post it in) and the day and time you choose
- your street address, if you ask us to visit you or to send the device back
- your chosen language, and a booking reference that we create
- technical information that helps us keep the site safe: your IP address (we keep only a scrambled, one-way version of it) and information that Google reCAPTCHA collects to tell people from automated bots
We may also note things about your repair, for example that we called you. We do not ask for payment card details on this website.
How we collect it
Mostly from you, when you fill in the booking form or contact us. Our staff may also enter a booking for you when you phone or visit.
Why we use it
We use your information to:
- respond to your request and manage your booking and repair
- contact you to confirm the time and the details
- send you booking confirmation emails
- keep this website secure and stop spam and misuse
- meet our legal obligations
We use your information only for these purposes, or for a purpose you would reasonably expect. We do not use it for marketing unless you agree.
Who we share it with
We use trusted providers to run this website. They handle your information on our behalf:
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud) stores booking records, in Melbourne
- Vercel hosts the website
- Google reCAPTCHA checks that a booking comes from a person
- Microsoft provides our email
We do not sell your personal information. Apart from these providers, we share it only with our own staff and technicians who need it to complete your repair, or where the law requires.
Information sent overseas
Some of our providers may handle information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers with appropriate security practices. Your booking records themselves are stored in Melbourne.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Google reCAPTCHA may use cookies or similar technology to detect bots, under Google's own privacy policy and terms. Staff who sign in to our dashboard receive a sign-in cookie.
Keeping your information safe
Booking records are kept in a restricted database that only our server and authorised staff can read. Staff sign in with a password, and this website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
How long we keep it
We keep booking information for as long as we need it to provide the service, answer questions about your repair, and meet legal and accounting needs. If you would like us to delete your booking information, contact us and we will consider your request.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us using the details above.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
